Plantation Drive organized at Parachute Regiment Campus, Bangalore
“He who plants a tree, plant a hope”. This hope of creating a better world for tomorrow, help students to foster environmental stewardship and love for nature, New Horizon Gurukul has never left any stone unturned. Taking this noble endeavour forward, the school in collaboration with LIONS CLUB, Bangalore, organized a plantation drive on 25th October 2017 at Parachute Regiment Campus, J.C Nagar, Bangalore. 200 students from grade 8th and 9th actively participated in the event wherein they planted 500 saplings in the army campus. The chief guest of the day, Brig Vikas Saini , SM , VSM , inaugurated the programme in the presence of Lion Club’s president and its members. “Protecting nature and protecting one’s own motherland are equally and always held in high pedestal “remarked the chief guest in his inaugural address. He applauded the interest of students in this plantation drive.The serene venue with its lush green surroundings was an added lusture to the programme and students in their small way got an opportunity to experience nature and thank our beautiful planet for it being our home.
Following the plantation of saplings by students , guests and teachers , a display of arms and ammunitions commonly used in army with a live and disciplined demonstration by brave jawans won the hearts of young students which ignited the spirit of patriotism. “I will take my utmost pride in joining Indian army and protect my country’s borders” said a young student Aditya Tili of grade 9th.
The days’s event concluded by thanksgiving by New Horizon Gurukul students to army personnel and our joy knew no bounds when Army general and his men posed for selfies with young students of New Horizon Gurukul.
