Teachers’ Day is marked in the honour of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was born on September 5, 1888. He was a great scholar, philosopher and a recipient of the Bharat Ratna.
On the 5th of September, 2017, the students of class 10 webbed together an array of events for the teachers at New Horizon Gurukul. The Teachers’ Day program was hosted by Devika and Ekta. Although small yet hilarious talks such as the use of different languages, the problem regarding a ‘bindhi’ and the absolutely flattering introduction of the students of class 10 was a thorough hit with teachers and students.
A group song by the girls of Class X B and X D was a melodious melange of popular Bollywood numbers. It was followed by a group dance by the girls of class X B. The enthusiasm and happiness on our teachers’ faces motivated us.
The skit performed by the students of class X portrayed the stark difference between the expected and the real scenario in a classroom. The skit was followed by an energetic and cute performance by the boys of the primary grade. We had group dances by the girls of class X, whose performances added fervour to the event.
The School Band put up a mash-up of Bollywood, Hollywood and even Kollywood songs. Though each performance outdid the previous one, the showstopper performance was by the tenth standard boys. Suffice it to say, it was ‘Halliness personified’.
