New Horizon Gurukul Joins Bengaluru's Historic Guinness World Record Tree-Plantation Drive
Event Details:
On 27 June 2026, Bengaluru made history by setting a Guinness World Record with a massive tree-plantation drive. During the 12-hour campaign, 15 lakh (1.5 million) indigenous saplings were planted across 244 acres, with support from more than 50,000 volunteers. The initiative was launched to develop Urban Oxygen Parks and promote a greener, healthier and more sustainable city.
New Horizon Gurukul was proud to be a part of this historic event. Around 500 students, along with their teachers, actively participated in the tree-plantation drive. Among them, 100 students from the school’s Interact Club took part with great enthusiasm, demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation and community service.
The students planted indigenous saplings, learned about the importance of protecting biodiversity and pledged to care for the environment. Their teamwork, dedication and sense of responsibility reflected the school’s values of sustainable living and responsible citizenship, while also upholding the Rotary motto, ‘Service Above Self’.
The drive was a valuable learning experience that encouraged students to understand the importance of protecting nature through collective action. Their active participation highlighted how small efforts, when combined, can make a significant difference in building a greener and healthier future.
