National Science Day – 2022

Resonating with this year’s theme “Integrated approach of S&T in sustainable growth”, New Horizon Gurukul organized a plethora of events to raise awareness about science among students on National Science Day.

From 21st to 28th Feb, every morning assembly had a myriad of presentations by students followed by inspiring speeches on various aspects of science and sustainability. Students of grade 6, 7 and 8th with their colorful display and demonstrations of intriguing experiments left the audience in awe. Vigyan geet, skits on the theme, dance and action songs by students from primary and secondary school enhanced the amplitude of the celebrations. Talks on humane side of scientists, evolving technology by teachers added more meaning to the celebrations.
On 26thFeb, students from grade 8 demonstrated various electronic models designed by them in ATL lab followed by a motivational talk by Mr.Praveen Kumar S, alumnus of IIT Madras, member of NEP 2020, Karnataka. The talk was focused on art of questioning and observation skills that lead to innovations and new discoveries.

The finale of the event was held on 28th Feb 2022 in Chanakya Auditorium of the school. The event got kick started by high voltage speeches by primary and secondary school students. Master Navneet ,grade IX, spoke at length about his idea .perceptions on science and co-related it with C V Raman’s discovery. Master Shriram and Master Shravan, grade IV presented the idea behind Raman effect through a dialogue which touched hearts of many. Dance presentation on Mission Mangal and theme-based songs, Science Magic show by students added more splendor to the event. Guest speaker, Ms. Sujatha Krishna, Senior Scientist, ISRO, in her talk elaborated the impact of research work that is being done on INSAT and RISAT along with her experiences in ISRO.

As a part of the celebrations, Science Quiz contest was organized for primary and middle school students with a whopping 1200 registrations. 30 students were selected in the preliminary round who took part in the finals.

The event also included felicitation of winners of “The international Asteroid Discovery Project” conducted by STEM and space research in collaboration with IASC, Pan-starrs and NASA. Winners of the Quiz Contest were also awarded with prizes and certificates.

The celebrations came to a close leaving ignited and inspired minds to love science more than ever!
