World Environment Day 2024-25

Event Details:

World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5th, is a global platform for raising awareness and addressing urgent environmental issues. This year, our institution organized many events and activities to mark the occasion, focusing on the theme “Land restoration, Deforestation and Drought resilience.” The celebrations aimed to educate students about the importance of sustainable development and encourage them to take part in environmental conservation efforts.

The World Environment Day celebrations were held over three days, from June 3rd to June 5th, encompassing a variety of activities designed to engage students of all ages. The events included:

Day 1:

3rd June, Monday

  1. Tots’ n Trees-Sapling Transplantation activity: Grade I and II students participated by transplanting saplings like Tulasi, Brinjal, chilies, Basil, Palak, Amaranthus, etc. at an organic garden on our school terrace.
  2. Eco-Painting Contest: Students used vegetable dyes like turmeric, spinach, and beetroot extracts and made beautiful patterns with cut vegetables. Students of grades III, IV, and V participated in this event to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices.
  3. Eco-Friendly Practices: A special talk show was conducted on menstrual health and eco-friendly practices. Anandi sanitary pads were distributed to all the female students from grades VI-XII.

Day 2:

4th June, Tuesday

  1. Poster-Making Contest: Based on the theme of land restoration and drought resilience, this contest aims to inspire creativity and raise awareness about critical environmental issues. Students of grades VI-VII actively participated and contributed their ideas towards sustainable development.
  2. Seed-Ball Activity: This activity aimed to make the students aware of the environment and its conservation. This seed ball activity is an efficient, cost-effective, and fun way to restore Mother Earth. Students of grade 8 participated in this activity and made more than 300 seed balls which will be used in greening our environment.

Day 3:

Online Competitions: From 2nd June – 10th June.

  1. Reel contest: Green Sprint- Grade IX and XI participated in this innovative and inspiring initiative to celebrate the eco-friendly power of local products in reducing carbon footprint. The aim is to accelerate the adoption of eco-friendly practices particularly concerning local products.
  2. Green plate challenge: The challenge is to encourage students to explore sustainable, planet-based food choices. In this contest, students must design two diet menus using the diet calculator and draft a write-up on food analysis using images or graphic organizers.

Day 4:

26th June, Wednesday

Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam: Green Ambassadors of grade 5-12 had participated in this event. This event aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tree plantation campaign, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam (One Tree for Mother), launched at Buddha Jayanti Park. Plantation drive using Miyawaki method will not only contribute to a greener planet but also educate our students about the importance of environmental stewardship. Students planted native species, which are essential for improving air quality and combating desertification. Overall students planted 500 plants in this event.
